Becky and I have been anticipating the high school graduation of our daughter, Meagan for sometime. I feel as if we’re making a mad dash toward the finish line. Sometime ago Becky ask me to pin the words that would best convey our hearts to our daughter. I became an emotional mess at the first stroke of the pen. Here’s to all the Parents who like Becky and me are wondering, “Where did all the time go?”
Esther 4:14 “And who knows but that you have come to royal position for such a time as this.”
Meagan,
Time, we remember pledging to each other that we would make each moment count in our little girl’s life. Everyone said, “You better enjoy it, she’ll be grown before you know it.” Our hearts would reply, “Exactly! We’ll ponder her every move. We won’t miss one twinkle of those bright eyes and we’ll attend every fantasy of that little imaginative heart. We’ll seize and capture every moment so that time doesn’t pass too quickly. In spite of our most earnest efforts to make time stand still and preserve each moment with you, time has escaped our grip. Time, September 2, 1989, until now. Meagan we’ve enjoyed every day with you, and will continue to do so. Our little girl, on every occasion, was our joy. The first tooth, first word, first step, the day you invited Jesus to live in your heart, first day in school, first gym competition, first honor roll, first pitch, first bit, first piano recital, first band concert, first song, first car, first date, first prom, and now your graduation from high school. We realize that we can never go back and wouldn’t want to. We now look forward. We are most proud of the young woman that you’ve become. Your modesty, character, and Godly attributes are things we admire the most. So we pledge again to each other now that we’ll make each moment in your life count from this moment on. Time, we do not fear it; we’re thankful for its generosity.
We love you,
Mom & Dad
As parents we must remember that our children are graduating and we’re not. This is not our last assignment. We must look forward to our future assignments.
His grace will enable us to release our sons and daughters to explore their futures. As difficult as it may be, we must release. We can’t cling to them as if our best days are behind us. I salute all the parents that will continue to make time count!
Anointed to Release,
Pastor Gregg
