I walk through the doors of this church every Sunday carrying life, dreams, desires, needs, hurts, and expectations. As I interact with others that God has brought into His House I either receive or take from them. God has designed these beautiful interactions of His body so that we will be unified in Him. I have particular people in my life who consistently give to me even when they don’t intend to. Just by being who they are, showing up at the church, and carrying Jesus with them, they have been a blessing, a true gift to me.
I feel good about myself around Tom Wilson. I don’t question myself when I’m around him, instead I feel at peace with who I am. I can have hours of conversation about God with Sheila Hayslip. Her words help wrap God’s arms around me. I am challenged by Todd Hunt’s passion for serving God. I talk to him and feel like we could and should take the world for God! Robyn Schopp believes that God will come through and she makes me believe with her. God uses Mr. Tommy to bring me to my knees for my laziness and boredom. He faithfully sows into children every week; same place, same time, same rowdy kids. He reminds me that ministry is not about what I feel or need but about serving the ones God loves. I look for Katrina Sherrill as soon as I get onto the platform. She is thrilled to be in God’s presence and I see it all over her. Her smile, during the music set, let’s me know that God is smiling at me. If you’ve met Jim Gay, you’ve laughed with Jim Gay. We all need laughter and Jim is my relief sometimes, even if I just see him from afar. I know that “over there” he’s making someone laugh. Andrea was given to me as a gift from God. She will tell you as she has told me that God told her to be my friend. I don’t see her often enough and our lives are too busy to have too many phone calls or social visits, but that is not the point. When she sees me, she is genuinely thrilled to be around me. I’ve never had a friend like her. She is part of a change God is doing in my life that I can’t even understand completely, but I know that I desperately need. Thank you God!
I am thankful beyond words for these people in my life and the many others that carry life to me. Thank you for showing up on Sunday’s and running across my path. Don’t ever doubt that God uses you even when you aren’t meaning to be used. I am only one person but your lives have touched many. God bless you all!
